Your first task is to make the fish pond. It needs to be rectangular in shape (2 ft. x 3 ft.) and three feet deep. 1) How much area in metres squared will the pond take up? 2) How many gallons of water will you need to fill the pond? 3) The seniors want a concrete walk surrounding the pond. The walk needs to be 1 metre wide and it will go all the way around the pond. a) What area in square feet, will the walkway cover? b) If the concrete is 15 centimetres thick, how many cubic metres of concrete are needed? Your second task is to put up a new bird feeder. 1) The bird feeder will be put on top of a vertical 4" by 4" post. The residents want the post to be 2.5 metres high. To make the post sturdy, you must bury it at least 0.5 metres. If a 4" x 4" post costs $1.79 a foot, how much will the post cost? 2) Once the post is buried, you need added support. You attach wires 1.5 metres up from the base of the post on either side. The wires are 1 metre from the base. Wire costs $1.25 a foot. How many feet of wire will you need and how much will it cost? 3) The bird feeder will hold 1.5 L of bird seed. How many pints will it hold? 4) A bolt is needed to attach the feeder to the post. At least 1/2 inch of the screw must penetrate the wood to be secure. You also need to put a 1/8 inch washer in between the screw and the wood. The screw must go through a 1 inch board, the washer, and penetrate the wood. Determine the minimum length of screw required if the screw type is sold in 1/4 inch increments. I've done it myself but I would love to get the right answers becasue I want to make sure I'm doing it right! Thank you.

Bird Feeder I bought a bird feeder.. I hung It on my patio and filled It lovingly with seed.... It was indeed a beautiful bird feeder. Within a Week we had hundreds of birds Taking advantage of the Continuous flow of free and Easily accessible food. But then the birds started Building nests in the boards Of the patio, above the table, And next to the barbecue.. Then came the bird shit. It was Everywhere; on the patio tiles, The chairs, the table ..... Everywhere! Then some of the birds Turned mean. They would Dive bomb me and try to Peck me even though I had Fed them out of my own Pocket. And other birds were Boisterous and loud. They Sat on the feeder and Squawked and screamed at All hours of the day and night And demanded that I fill it When it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even Sit on my own back porch Anymore. So I took down the Bird feeder and in three days The birds were gone. I cleaned Up their mess and took down The many nests they had built All over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like It used to be ... Quiet, serene And no one demanding their Rights to a free meal.... Now let's see ....... Rudd & our government give out Free food, subsidised housing, Free medical care, and free Education and allows anyone Born here to be an automatic Citizen. Then the illegals came by The millions. Suddenly Our taxes went up to pay for the Free services; small flats Are housing 5 or more families; you Have to wait 6 hours to be seen By a doctor in an emergency surgery Because it is filled with illegal non tax payers; Your child's year 12 class is Behind other schools because Over half the class doesn't speak English. Corn Flakes now come in a Bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank Talk to me in English, and People waving flags other Than 'The Aussie Flag' are Squawking and screaming In the streets, demanding More rights and free liberties.
